Caring for the Soul of your Church: Making Spiritual Formation the Center of your Church’s Discipleship
Presented by Bill Elander and Rich Andrews. Becoming intentional about spiritual formation in a church is the best prevention against ministry burn-out and the best guarantee for Kingdom sustainability. In this workshop we will look at how church communities can help each member experience a deeper, more life-transforming relationship with God and integrate spiritual formation practices and principles into the fabric of their discipleship strategy–from new believer to seasoned sage. You will hear how this has been done in a larger church as well as in the context of a church plant. We will equip you with practical resources for both personal and church-wide spiritual transformation, including a shared spiritual exercise. There will be time given for questions and discussion.
After following God’s call to plant and pastor the New Haven Vineyard in 1986, Bill and Lainie Elander are following His more recent call on their lives to serve the Body of Christ through SoulTend, their ministry of spiritual formation and spiritual direction. Bill is the Soul Care Coordinator of the Vineyard’s East Region.
Rich Andrews discovered the Vineyard family back in 1999 and quickly dove into the world of pastoral ministry at Blue Route Vineyard, serving the church locally and abroad with a passion to see people grow to be like Jesus. Rich now pastors a church plant called the Conshohocken Vineyard located just twenty minutes outside of Philadelphia.
