The Road through Samaria: Diversity, the Vineyard, and the City
Presented by Steve Schenk. Jesus calls us to love our neighbor. What are ways we can live out this Kingdom imperative across social, ethnic and economic lines? Let’s discuss what it can really look like to collaborate with our communities, choose our neighbors, and to follow Jesus across these boundary lines.
Nine years ago the Schenks moved from California to Buffalo NY to plant a Vineyard. Buffalo’s West Side is an extremely diverse neighborhood that is currently experiencing a surge of community development efforts. Those efforts are an attempt to address the problems of systemic injustice present in this under-resourced community. The Buffalo Vineyard Church is one small, but well connected, part of that effort. In their time there, the Schenks have been fortunate to see the Spirit begin a work of unity in the church, connecting churches and non-profits in collaborative Kingdom ministry.
